Wrens are such a delight! Active small birds with strong songs. And the beloved aspen tree with it's leaves quaking in the breeze. This bird is lovingly sculpted from paper mache and natural elements. The tail and wings are scraps of old dried sage-wood. The beak is a stone found in the mountains near my home. The legs are twigs I gathered on a walk. I wrapped them in wire and sculpted the sturdy feet. The final decorative layer is a lovely ecological plant fiber paper. I then painted the sweet aspen leaves to adorn this friendly wren. Glass bead eyes gaze gently. I gave the entire sculpture a protective coating of artist matte varnish. 5.5" tall
